# Backup Guide for Steelseries Steps

## Introduction

This product is external[^1] software that requires the user to disable the PC's security features to operate.

### An Important Note

{% hint style="danger" %}
Using this software online against other human players exposes the PC and/or the account you choose to play on to risk. This may result in account suspensions, bans, HWID bans, etc.

**For this reason, we always recommend using an alternate account. Never use your main account when using any of our software.**

Our software is consistently updated to remain undetected and safe to use online. Always check the product status you wish to use before using it.

## Need help with bans, VPNs, spoofers & more?

Take a look at our Resources page:

## Rust Bans

Rust issues more complex bans compared to other games. We have a detailed ban guide for Rust here:

[^1]: External cheats do not require the user to disable deep, kernel-level security features in order to use them. Externals run much like an overlay - they sit outside of the game's process and read values of the process and write values back to the process.

[^2]: For example: AVAST, AVG, McAfee, Malwarebytes, etc.

[^3]: For example: Riot Vanguard, ESEA, FACEIT, etc.

[^4]: Depending on the product, **this is usually a .exe or a .bat file named "loader.exe."**

    In some cases, these files may be random characters/numbers.

[^5]: The DEX-D loader is used with our Rust product only at this time.
