# Setup Guide

## Setup Guide

Do **not** skip steps. Our products are **only** compatible with official builds of Windows 10 & 11. If you need to reinstall Windows, see [clean-windows-install](https://docs.dexa.im/learn/resources/windows-10-and-11-guides/clean-windows-install "mention")

### 1. Preparing Windows

* [Sync your PC's date & time](ms-settings:dateandtime)
* Update your video card (GPU) drivers:
  * [NVIDIA GPU drivers](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/)
  * or [AMD GPU drivers](https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html)
* Download & install:
  * Microsoft [Visual C++ Redistributables](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-version)
  * Microsoft [.NET framework](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download) (v8.0) & [.NET framework](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/thank-you/net481-web-installer) (v4.8.1)
  * Microsoft [DirectX End-User Runtimes](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35)

### 2. Removing Antivirus & Anti-cheat

* Uninstall all third-party [antivirus software](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]
* Uninstall all third-party [anti-cheat software](#user-content-fn-2)[^2]

**Do not uninstall** Easy Anti-cheat (EAC) or BattlEye.

### 3. Disable the Vulnerable Driver Blocklist

* Download the Turn OFF Windows Vulnerable Driver Blocklist registry file below
  * Extract[^3] the contents of the .ZIP archive to the desktop or a folder
  * Run the .REG file -> click `Yes`
  * Reboot the PC

Some users have reported that the Vulnerable Driver Blocklist will be re-enabled after a PC reboot. Always check this before using this product.

### 4. Disable Security Settings

Disable security settings, including real-time protection, tamper protection, and memory integrity.

### 5. Preparing the Game

* Launch the game
  * change video settings to `borderless windowed mode` or `windowed mode`
  * verify the game's resolution matches the [monitor's display resolution](ms-settings:display)
  * save any changes
  * close the game

### 6. Setting up the Loader

* Close Steam entirely (make sure it is not running in the system tray)
* Open Steam as administrator
  * Right-click Steam -> run as administrator

Steam must be run as administrator.

* Download the loader file from [your order](https://account.dexa.im/orders)
* [Extract the](#user-content-fn-4)[^4] `DEXAiM-` folder directly to the desktop or another folder
* Run `KD2.exe`&#x20;

The `KD2T.exe` (test loader) does not work for account registration or license key redemption. You **must** use `KD2.exe`

* Click `Register` **once**

You may need to use a [VPN](https://go.nordvpn.net/SH8k3), depending on your location, to register & log into the loader.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Choose a username and password **at least 6 characters long.** **Only use numbers or letters,** no special characters. Save these credentials to a notepad or write them down. **We cannot recover this account or reset your password.** Do **not** click register more than once; this will break the license key.

* Create an account, noting the requirements mentioned in the warning above.

* Click `Login`
  * If you have not attached an active license key to your account, you will be prompted to activate a license key.

* Paste your `license key` [from your order](https://account.dexa.im), click `License Register`

* You will see a `License Registered successfully` prompt.

* Click `login` again on the main prompt. The loader will close.
* Open the `RUN THIS BEFORE USING THE LOADER` folder
* Drag and drop the `drag_me_in_poopoo.dll` file **onto** the `poopoo.exe` file
* The login prompt will open. Login with the account you created and registered your license key on earlier.
* A prompt will popup; do not close it:

* Run the game from Steam.
* While the game is loading, you will hear an audible `beep` sound; you will then hear a second `beep`
* At the ship, `ALT+TAB` and run `KD2.exe`
* Login, and you will hear a second `beep`
* The menu will appear.

**There is no menu key for this cheat.** You can move the menu off-screen or minimize it when not in use.
